Are all the dead Christians in Heaven?

It has long been taught that when a Christian dies they go straight to heaven. Is this what the Bible teaches or have paganistic doctrines and myths crept unbeknown into our Christian faith?

What did Jesus say about his friend Lazarus who had died? John 11:11-14 “These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep. Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well. Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep. Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead”.

Jesus clearly showed us that the dead sleep. If Lazarus had gone to heaven Jesus would have said that he was in heaven with the Father. Also, after Jesus raised Lazarus, did anyone ask Lazarus “What was it like in heaven? Tell us about it”. No one did, because it was the belief of the day that when someone died they slept until the resurrection on the last day.

This is further clarified in Psalms where we are told that when we die our thoughts perish Psalms 146:4 “His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish”.

We are also told that we will not rise again until the heavens are no more (when Jesus returns) Job 14:12 “So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep”.

Paul reinforced this understanding 1 Thessalonians 4:16 “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first”:

Many Christians believe that when they die they go directly to heaven, even though the day of judgment has not even occurred yet. They visualize themselves in heaven with the angels praising God. But what does the Bible say? Psalms 115:17 “The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence”.

It is clear that the Bible writers all believed that the state of the dead is like sleeping, to be awakened the moment after they closed their eyes at the final trumpet at the coming of Jesus on the day of redemption. 1 Corinthians 15:52 “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed”.

Job made it clear that we return to dust and are no more until the resurrection Job 7:21 “And why dost thou not pardon my transgression, and take away mine iniquity? for now shall I sleep in the dust; and thou shalt seek me in the morning, but I shall not be”.

There are many deceptions of Satan going on in these end times and spiritism is on the increase. If people realized that the dead are all asleep and can’t communicate with us, then they would start to question who exactly it is that they are communicating with. There are many deceptive demonic spirits in the invisible world around us, who take every opportunity they can to lead people astray. It is time that we recognized that when mediums are speaking to the ‘other side’ it is actually the evil angels that they are talking to and not dead beloved relatives.

How can we help those who have been tricked by these deceptive spirits, if we don’t demonstrate to people from a Biblical perspective that the dead are asleep and have no thoughts, so it can’t be them doing the communicating?

All Bible references are from the King James Version.

The illustration of Lazarus not in heaven is accurate because Jesus had not yet died, gone into Abraham's bosom, and redeemed them. The scripture also states that Jesus went there for the three days, teaching, and then led captives free (from Abraham's bosom) and are now in paradise, which is heaven. They have not been glorified yet, that comes after the rapture of the church and we come again to the earth with Him.

Voice of Prophecy, if what you say is true...
...why is it that after the Lord's death, resurrection, and ascension, we read this?

"Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and that his sepulchre is with us unto this day". (Acts 2:29).

"For David is not ascended into the heavens". (Acts 2:29).

I will be glad to get a response from the blogger or any other person that can provide me the needed answers. I needed this as there are been many people that Jesus show the visions of Heaven and or Hell saying that Christians go to heaven and the Angels rejoices while sinners are trooping to Hell in Millions.

I need a Biblical reference to fully comprehend this and what Apostle Paul says in 1 Thess. 4:13-18.

Thanks in advance.

Because David still sleeps in the grave
He won't be resurrected until the rapture, just like all believers
All believers are asleep in the grave until Jesus returns

Because Jesus did not ascend into Heaven in His resurrected body that day He died on the cross
He in fact told Mary Magdelene to "touch me not, for I have not yet ascended to my Father"
He didn't go to paradise himself, so how could the thief go? Was Jesus lying? No of course not
Jesus generally spoke of the big picture concerning Himself
He was telling the thief that as of that very day, he belonged to Him, and he would ultimately be forever in paradise with Jesus

All people sleep in the dust , until Jesus returns
All will be resurrected eventually to judgement
There are no people floating around in some place with flames or an underworld. That is Greek mythology- fairy tales
No people in Heaven
John 3:13 says "NO man has ascended to heaven"
That is black and white as it gets

Ecclesiastes 12:7 isn't referring to a living soul returning to God... It's simply referring to the breath of life
God gave it, it's in His power only to give life
That power to give it again goes back to Him
The stressed out responder that mentions Satan worship should rethink his comments as it is very clear through Gods Word that we nor anyone other than Jesus has not put on immortality. We will do that at a future time. Demonic spirits want to make people believe they can go to heaven now and most people believe it because it's comfortable. But truth is truth and it takes more trust to know God will raise us from the dead eventually than to believe it's automatic now
If Jesus did it, through His grace, so can we

Remember Lk.16:19-31 If you have the red letter edition simply showing that these are the words of the Lord Jesus speaking. This is the account of the richman, and lazarus; Showing for one Abraham's bosom, Which is also referred to as paradise in LK.23:43 Jesus said to the thief on the cross this day you will be with me in paradise Meaning; You got it Abraham's bosom. To further this in JN 20:17 After he rose he told mary do not cling to me for I have not yet ascended to my father in heaven. In other words taking the old testament saints up to heaven with him PS 68:18 EHP 4:8 When he Ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men. Showing the saints are with the lord in heaven,And not only the Old Testament ones. Remember Steven the Martyr? Acts 7:56 Said Look! I see the heavens open, And the son of man standing at the right hand of God. Now when it comes to the "rapture / 1st resurrection" in Thessalonians. It's an simultaneous event in which all believers receive their glorified bodies. Notice in Thess 4;13-14 Jesus will bring those who have 'fallen asleep / died"; of course the dead rise first then those who are alive ,and remain receive their glorified body.

It was a misplaced comma placed there by translators. Jesus said today I tell you, you will be with me in paradise. Hope that helps.
